As ToRead celebrates its 5th anniversary in 2026, we are looking back at the incredible journeys of our community through our special ‘Where Are They Now’ campaign. Today, we are proud to spotlight Bahaa Janbein, a dedicated ToRead alumnus since 2025, to share how his path has unfolded over the years.

Who is Bahaa Janbein?

Bahaa Janbein, 21-years-old, is a Lebanese leader pursuing his Master’s in Environmental and Plant Science (Phytoecology) at the Lebanese University. Known for his leadership in youth-driven initiatives such as Together We Can, he has consistently championed empowerment and sustainability. His experience with ToRead includes his participation in the Own Your Work Bootcamp in 2025, where he advanced his skills in leadership and entrepreneurship.

The Success Story

Bahaa narrates his story: my success is rooted in my commitment to youth empowerment and environmental sustainability, which led me to found Together We Can in 2021. As a leader of this initiative, I manage a team of33 volunteers dedicated to empowering more than 20,000 students across Lebanon. My journey focuses on bridging the gap between education and opportunity by providing academic support and professional internship networks. Under my leadership, this initiative has achieved remarkable milestones, including supporting students who secured top national rankings, such as the1st rank student in Lebanon for 2022.
In parallel with my work at Together We Can, I participated in the Own Your Work Bootcamp with ToRead, where I sharpened my leadership and entrepreneurial skills. This experience was pivotal in expanding my impact, leading me to found Horra, a youth-led initiative that secured grants from theBritish Council and Oxfam for environmental and rights-focused projects. I also lead the Save the Water campaign, which addresses water governance and pollution control in the Litani River. These efforts culminated in my appointment as anAmbassador of Change at the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Network Lebanon, where I represent youth-led solutions for sustainability on a national level.”

Recommendation

Bahaa encourages youth to resist injustice, take initiative early, and engage in collaborative action, believing that true leadership emerges when communities unite to transform challenges into opportunities.
Bahaa Janbein is one of the thousands of youth that ToRead has worked with over the years. We are proud to shine a light on their success. ToRead continues to support the youth in Lebanon and the region through innovation, technology, and Entrepreneurship.
