As ToRead celebrates its 5th anniversary in 2026, we are looking back at the incredible journeys of our community through our special ‘Where Are They Now’ campaign. Today, we are proud to spotlight Yasmin Wirdi, a dedicated ToRead alumna who joined our programs in 2025, to share how her path has unfolded since then.
Who is Yasmin Wirdi?
Yasmin Wirdi is a 27-year-old social worker and community project manager who holds a professional certification in Non-Governmental Organization management. During her time with ToRead, Yasmin participated in the Ready4Work program in partnership with INJAZ Lebanon and the Entrepreneurship programs in 2025. Through this experience, she learned how to scale her social initiative, Impact, by successfully integrating the principles of social entrepreneurship into her community development work.
The Success Story
Yasmin narrates her journey, saying: my career is rooted in my deep expertise in social work, which led me to found the Impact initiative in pursuit of building a safe and violence-free community. I view my success as being embodied in the ability of my team and myself to lead community projects that have left a tangible mark on promoting a culture of peace and advocating for the rights of children, youth, and women. I take particular pride in the fact that these achievements were realized throughself-driven efforts and without external financial funding, proving my vision that local initiatives are capable of creating positive and sustainable change through faith and hard work.
In parallel with my field work, I enhanced my professional path by participating in ToRead programs, where I learned how to integrate entrepreneurial thinking into community work to develop the initiative’s tools and ensure its continuity. As an asocial worker and project manager, I always strive to bridge my academic expertise with field reality, believing that every day is one more step towards realizing our dreams and leaving an imprint worthy of our ambitions.
