ToRead was proudly selected to participate in the Code for MENA Fellowship, a regional civic-tech initiative empowering innovators to create digital solutions that expand civic spaces and drive social impact across the Middle East and North Africa.
Through this fellowship, ToRead worked on the enhancement of its new platform, Taallam, a digital learning and knowledge-sharing hub designed to make education and skills development more accessible for youth in Lebanon and the wider MENA region.
The Code for MENA Fellowship, launched by the Digital Democracy Initiative in partnership with CIVICUS and led regionally by SmartGov, brings together 50 fellows, including developers, designers, and civil society innovators, to co-create civic technology tools that promote transparency, participation, and community empowerment.
Over a transformative three-month journey, ToRead received tailored mentorship, intensive training, and hands-on support from regional and global experts. The program culminated in a virtual hackathon, where teams pitched their solutions to a jury of civic tech leaders for seed funding and regional exposure.
For ToRead, participation in Code for MENA was a milestone in advancing its vision of using technology for public good. Through Taallam, ToRead aims to create an open, inclusive, and interactive platform that bridges education, innovation, and civic engagement, empowering youth to learn, connect, and contribute to meaningful change.
