ToRead’s Managing Director, Hany Anan, spoke on 26 November 2025 at the Future of Work Conference hosted by ESA Business School in partnership with HEC Paris. His participation came as part of a roundtable discussion focused on how work is changing and what young people need to do today to stay ready for what’s next.
In his intervention, Hany shared practical trends on how artificial intelligence is reshaping both learning and employment. He explained that AI is not only a “tech topic,” but a shift that is already affecting the way people study, build skills, and deliver work in almost every sector. As tools become more advanced and more accessible, routine tasks are changing, new roles are emerging, and the skills that matter most are being redefined.
A key point he emphasized is that learning is becoming more continuous and skills-based. Instead of relying only on degrees or long training paths, more people are building their profile through shorter programs, micro-credentials, online learning, and hands-on projects. This trend matters for youth because it makes learning more flexible, but it also increases competition. Those who can learn faster, update their skills regularly, and prove what they can do will be better positioned to access opportunities.
Hany also highlighted what AI is changing inside workplaces. Teams are increasingly expected to work faster, use data more effectively, and collaborate across tools and platforms. In this environment, young people need more than technical knowledge. He stressed the importance of critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and digital literacy, skills that help youth use AI tools wisely, validate information, and make decisions rather than relying on automation. He also emphasized the importance of cultivating a growth mindset: remaining curious, adaptable, and viewing change as a natural part of a career journey.
Linking these trends to Lebanon and the region, Hany noted that AI can open new pathways for youth, especially through remote work, freelancing, digital entrepreneurship, and cross-border collaboration. However, to benefit from these shifts, young people need access to guidance, mentorship, and opportunities that help them transition from learning to practice.
Through this engagement, ToRead reaffirmed its mission of building the next generation of impactful leaders in Lebanon and the region. By joining spaces like the Future of Work Conference, ToRead contributes to conversations that shape education and employability, while bringing real on-the-ground experience from working directly with youth.
As AI continues to transform learning and work, ToRead remains committed to being part of the solution, helping youth not only prepare for the future but also actively shape it.
